Aquaculture

Aquaculture is the process of producing aquatic organisms such as shellfish, fish, crustaceans and macroalgae. Seen as a sector of great strategic interest and with an annual growth over 9% in recent years, it represents the future of aquatic animal protein production. Depending on the different natural conditions of the planet and culture knowledge, production systems can be located near shores, offshore, in estuaries, rivers, lakes or land based. Aquaculture also allows the establishment of food safety standards, norms and/or traceability for major safety of the entire process, from the producer to the consumer.
